The Heimlich maneuver is a first aid measure that can cause suffocation or death due to foreign body obstruction, such as a Heimlich seizure or constriction of the intestines.

That is why it is important for each of us to know how to properly carry out the Heimlich procedure.

The assistant stands behind the breather and holds the upper abdomen with his hands. He clenched his fists with one hand and placed the spoon under the ribs and chest (epigastrium). With your other hand, clench your fists, then press firmly against your body. In doing so, he tries to reduce the pressure in the lungs, because of which the foreign body is pushed out of the trachea. If necessary, this maneuver can be repeated up to five times (with the patient in a horizontal position).
