Kayakers visiting the Gulf of Mexico got the surprise of their life when two highly elusive (and gigantic!) oarfish paid them a visit in shallow waters!

What is going on here?! The oarfish can live at 1,000 meters under water and two of them came to the surface to surprise tourists from Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium.

These giants were about 15 feet long each, but oarfish can reach the crazy length of 36 feet and weigh up to 600 lbs! How scared would you be in these big guys swam up to you?
