Ice Skating Team Takes Home The Gold With Jaw-Dropping Performance

Ice skating isn’t for everyone, sure, but a performance like this will leave even the hardest to please with their jaws on the floor. This routine won Canada’s Nexxice team the gold in the 2015 World Synchronized Skating Championship.

The skaters perform choreography to the tune of “Mud,” by the Road Hammers. I have to say, while we do love the frilly, sparkly, graceful routines normally seen on the rink (like this performance to the tune of Whitney Houston!), Nexxice’s original style is incredibly refreshing.

The team has ditched traditional uniforms for sleek black skirts with leggings. They traded in the conventional ballads for a routine that’s a bit more rock and roll and fun.

Don’t get me wrong, these skaters are still totally elegant, graceful and light on their feet, but you can totally tell that they don’t take themselves too seriously.

“It was just a surreal experience with the crowd,” says skater Lee Chandler. “In the end, they really lifted us. This is a program we have been practicing since September and the girls came together today and performed it better than ever.”

This is the first time a Canadian team has won the event since 2009 and it is much earned.

See the impeccable routine below and please SHARE with your friends and family if you were totally impressed!
