Life presents us with all types of ethical questions, oftentimes with no clear-cut or correct answer.
These kinds of moral dilemmas have been popping up all over the globe, and certainly in technology, as with self-driving cars that will soon be forced to make ethical decisions themselves via computer programs.
And when I was asked what I would do in this situation, I was totally stumped.
This moral conundrum in particular has been circulating around the Internet for ages, and it really asks its reader to rethink his or her top priorities.
Some claim that it has also been used in job interviews, requiring top candidates to both think on their feet and also deeply reflect on what they value most.
It almost seems completely unanswerable, but one young man had a heartwarming response to this job interview question that had me totally floored.
By thinking outside of the box, he nailed the answer, wowed his interviewers, and definitely got the job.

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect man or woman you have been dreaming about.
You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first.
Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.
However, you may never be able to find you perfect dream lover again.
The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. His response was absolutely brilliant.
He simply answered: “I would give the car keys to my old friend, and let him take the old lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams.”
This man’s response very well may be the perfect answer.
