Good Samaritan Buys Back Heartbroken Mom’s Foreclosed Home

Tracy Orr couldn’t afford to make payments on her home after she lost her job.

“It’s just been a bad deal,” Tracy told CNN.

She had even sold $12,000 worth of property and paid the mortgage company thinking it would stop the foreclosure. But it didn’t work; the house was foreclosed on and put up for auction.

Tracy decided to go the auction with her family, but could hardly keep it together as she watched the home she took out an $80,000 loan on get bid on by strangers.

That’s when she met chipper Marilyn Mock. Marilyn sat beside Tracy and began to chat her up.

“Are you here to buy a house?” Marilyn Mock said. Then Tracy burst into tears. “That’s my house,” she said. Tracy pointed to a space on the auction brochure. There wasn’t even a photo of the house, just a listing.

The four-bedroom home went up for sale and then Marilyn slipped away. That’s when it happened: Marilyn bought Tracy’s home for $30,000.

Sometimes it’s a complete stranger that will show you the most compassion; like when an anonymous Good Samaritan bought struggling single mom Connie Cole a brand new car.

“She didn’t know I was doing it,” Marilyn says. “I just kept asking her if [her home] was worth it, and she just kept crying. She probably thought I was crazy, ‘Why does this woman keep asking me that?’ “

“She said, ‘I did this for you. I’m doing this for you,’” Tracy says. “When it was all done, I was just in shock.”

“She was just so sad. You put yourself in their situation and you realize you just got to do something,” Marilyn said of why she did it.
