I love seeing couples work together, joining forces and showing the world what they’re like at their best. Here, country music giants Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, a married couple in real life, perform “The Call,” and it left me breathless.
Garth Brooks wrote The Call to eloquently describe his marriage and more specifically, a darker time in his and Trisha’s marriage when it nearly fell apart. Brooks is not one to shy away from personal matters through his music, and his fans were more than happy to share this special song with him. Brooks told Country Aircheck, “It’s about that point in a relationship when you make the decision whether what you have is worth fighting for, or is it just easier to call it ‘friends’ and live life from there. Everybody goes through this; Miss Yearwood and I were in the middle of it in 2002-03.”
Not only do Garth and Trisha seem like such a wonderful couple (now married for nearly a decade), but their voices work together like one was made for the other. Though the song is about marriage and its inevitable flaws, this duet is truly flawless.
