Nine-year-old horse Rupert is no ordinary four legged beast. He has become a hit at retirement homes across England and is a regular visitor, where he entertains and interacts with elderly residents.
When Rupert enters the room, all the residents light up. Animal therapy has been acknowledged to have a positive effect on people, and it thought equine therapy can help to reduce stress and improve hand-eye coordination.
In the video, Rupert charms both residents and care assistants with his calm nature in the retirement home. He seems to relate to old people, quickly bonding with them. At one point, he had an almost magical connection with one residents and bowed down to allow the elderly woman rest her forehead on his head. It is a beautiful moment!
